Cancelling a card permanently disables authorisation processing & destroys the card from the card scheme perspective. This means that all new authorisations will be immediately declined and this cannot be reversed. Outstanding authorisations are unaffected and settlement, chargebacks, refunds, etc will continue to function as normal.
